Things I Can’t Live Without: Marty the Cat

Posted on

When I’m working at my desk, my favorite little work buddy, Marty the Cat, is never far away. His favorite place to sit is (not surprisingly!) next to my computer’s mouse pad.

He’s cute and cuddly, but not much help in terms of my productivity. If I don’t pay enough attention to him, he will wrap his paws around my arm until I stop what I’m doing. (“Such a silly boy!” as my daughter Emily would say.)

Nonetheless, I can’t imagine my desk without him.

Your Marty reminds me of my Nelson. Giant, gentle, playful, loving orange tabby. I had to end his chronic urinary blockage suffering early this January and my desk (my entire home) has never been the same. I miss his supervision at my desk and when he wanted some playtime and snuggling, he would plunk his giant body down on my keyboard and touch my face with his paw. Missing him something fierce…

Hi Aine! There’s something about orange cats! Before Marty I had a cat for 19 years – Annie the Cat. She wasn’t orange but she was a special girl too! Maybe she and Nelson are friends now…

My Angus, my office mate! He is like my shadow to be honest! He is a 4 yr. old Westie. He has helped me to get into the habit of walking twice a day and after our morning walk he curls up in his bed in my office and takes the first of many daily naps! When he is in a deep sleep he often dreams (loudly) and runs in his sleep! He’s a very sweet boy and a very excellent home office companion!

Oh I can relate! Not an orange cat but a brown and black tabby with lots of pure white. That’s my Zoe. She hangs out while I am working at my desk…..usually in her cat bed under my desk. When she wants attention, she will walk across my keyboard or pull all my paper clips off of my groups of papers. Crazy but I love her!

Zoe sounds like a sweetie and I love her name! Yesterday Marty stepped on my keyboard and put my computer to sleep! Thank goodness I figured out how to “wake it up” without restarting. They are certainly in charge of us:) We also have Max our beautiful tabby who is crazier than Marty. He literally climbs the walls. But I couldn’t live without both of them.
